Project Details
This project was all about helping ASMP execute a vision for their national website. Their current WordPress theme wasn’t allowing them to fully realize their design goals, so we stepped in to provide a redesigned WordPress theme to match their goals.
They really didn’t want to start from scratch or reinvent the wheel though. They liked many of the current features, and the staff was accustomed to the way the CMS worked.
So we treated this project as a semi website rebuild. We did some magic with the markup and styles to achieve a website rebuild that better matched their vision—and looked great across every screen size imaginable.

How it helped
This project required a good deal of development, specifically in terms of overriding theme styles while leaving all the core functionality intact. It also required creating specific modules for Visual Composer to make certain that any future changes to the website could be made easily (by the client) and without the need for additional hard-coding or development.
Looking under the hood, we updated the current WordPress theme core styles to match the designs provided by ASMP, including typography, buttons, colors and other primary design considerations. We also updated the footer, the hero slider, and the homepage posts grid and layout to match designs. Additionally, we created specific modules for the Visual Composer builder to allow ASMP the ability to add new content without issues.
We also created scripts and in some instances had to manually override years of style tweaks that had be created in the backend user interface, since the need for this code is now obsolete. We also converted the site to be responsive and mobile friendly—because every website should be responsive.
As a result, ASMP now has a perfectly redesigned WordPress theme that not only matches their designs but also kept all the original theme functionality in place. Win-win!
